Event Details

Black and White photography allows us to concentrate on compositional skills, making the most of perspective, natural lighting and capturing the "Decisive Moment".

"Our aim is to educate, encourage and inspire."

Bangkok Photo School Monochrome Masterclass

The Monochrome Masterclass Workshop will combine a live street photography shoot with a post-production classroom session. You will be encouraged to seek out atmospheric lighting and engaging perspectives, concentrating on capturing the "decisive moment" which reflect the essence of the bustling Chinatown market.

The classroom session will provide tuition in post-production techniques, allowing you to make the most of your monochrome images, using Adobe Lightroom and Silver EFEX software.

The workshop will conclude with a lunch-time discussion and review of our work, with ideas for future projects.

FAQs

What's the schedule for the Monochrome Masterclass?

We'll meet on Saturday afternoon for a structured photo shoot in Chinatown, practising street photography techniques especially for black & white production. On Sunday morning, the group will reconvene for a classroom session in black & white post-production techniques, finishing with a lunch-time discussion and review.

Saturday: 5pm to 8pm
Sunday: 10am to 1pm

What camera gear will I need?

For street photography, we recommend that you travel light to allow you to concentrate on the photo opportunities. A DSLR or Rangefinder camera would be perfect with a wide-angle or fixed focal-length lens. There's no need for tripods or supplementary lighting gear. In fact, you might want to come armed only with a camera and lens and leave the rest of your gear at home.

Is there an age limit for students?

Currently, the Monochrome Masterclass Workshop is suitable for photographers aged 15 and above.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes, please bring your ticket with you, either printed or on a mobile device.

What about refreshments?

There will be access to street vendors selling food and drinks but you may also wish to bring a bottle of water with you.

Where can I find more information about your classes and workshops?

You can visit the Bangkok Photo School web site and you're welcome to e-mail us at enquiries@bangkokphotoschool.com
